DALANEL has always been a weapon of mine to counter the negativity of the world. I try to bring a positive spin to the world.
Currently, these are the ways I attack:
- Monday Motivation
- Tuesday Testimony
- Wednesday Word
- Thursday Thoughts
- Fearless Friday
Each post provides a unique spin on things. I create Monday Motivations on my own. Testimonies, Thoughts, and Fearless are outsourced. Wednesday Word is a combination of the two.
I’ve spent years molding this blog and its features to carry this vision. I will continue to. The idea that I’m making an impact is a good one. 1,600 people can’t be wrong, right? That’s how many people follow this blog. Google+, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, WordPress, Email, and LinkedIn. Many people, many backgrounds. But, they can appreciate what is going on here.
I’m hardly the only site with the same purpose in mind. However, I’m pretty sure I’m the only guy doing it the way I am.
I recently read a story of a girl, with the help of her little sister, who killed their older brother. He locked her in a closet. Apparently, this is what the parents did to punish her. The parents had left, and big brother was in charge. His sister…I GUESS, needed to be disciplined and big bro did what he saw his parents do. Lock her up.
Younger sister got older sister out of the room and she shot her brother in his sleep. Dead.
Look, there’s nothing wrong with sharing stories like that. It just seems like, to me, the balance is too far in those type of stories’ favor. We need balance. That’s the key. I’m not trying to make DALANEL into something that is the only source of whatever in your life. It’s supposed to be something to counter the effects of the crap we see.
Ignorance is never a good thing. We need to know what is going on in our world. That’s both for good and bad.
We keep praising the evil. Terrorists are on magazine covers for what they’ve done. A hero is lucky to get a page in the same magazine. That’s my point. The Boston Marathon bombing is the example that comes to mind. The younger brother’s face was plastered everywhere. He gets to live forever. That’s the reality.
Again, I’m not saying that’s wrong. I am saying that I wish we gave the people that save lives as much attention.
My mission will most likely end when the type of posts I make are a lot more common. I’m trying to make some initial noise and get the ball rolling. My fight isn’t over, but you should know that I am indeed putting up a fight. Something has to change.
I keep myself motivated by following the news that I’m fighting. Know your enemy. Study it.
The idea behind this is to better tailor the blog to counter what’s out there. If I know what is out there, I can then develop a post that can effectively counter that story.
As long as we as a society continue to click on those stories, the writers will continue to look for news like it. In this regard, they are sellouts. They will give the people what they want. If we demand certain things, they will bend. That’s the media. Hollywood. Sell tickets. Get views. They’ll make child porn if we asked for it enough. I wish you could see my face.
Charlie Sheen is made out to be a crazy man who does nothing right but continues to “win”. We covered all of the mess with Two And A Half Men (one of my favorites). But his substantial donations to the…let me show you the original story:
Charlie Sheen has made a couple of key donations this month. First, he donated $10,000 to The Walk To End Epilepsy charity, which aids children living with the disease. Very recently, he also donated $25,000 to the People’s Recovery Empowerment Development Assistance (Preda) Foundation.
You hear about that? Right. And this was late 2013.
Balance. That’s all I ask.
I could go on, but, I think you get my point. Try a little harder to surround yourself with positive energy. You will soon give up on the world if you don’t.
Let me help.
Let me motivate you. Let me share stories from others about the miracles in their lives. Let me share God with you. Let me share all of the positive thinking quotes with you. Let me share the heroes that are out there. It’s not all bad out there.
