So, this is the start of the Bible Light series. Today, I’ll share my thoughts on Psalm 119:105, which reads: Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
So, what does this mean to me?
Simply put, you can see light is an analogy. Of course, just about all of the verses will be using light for an analogy. Anyway, in this case, “Your word” is the Bible. And, this Bible is a lamp and light.
The world is dark. God gave us Himself in the form of the Holy Spirit. But, He also left His word. With this word, this map, we are able to see things. We were once blond but, with the word, we see. We use it as a guiding force as we walk through the path of darkness.
I stress “walk” if only because we’re talking about feet in the first part.
Now, let’s dive into the actual words of the verse. A lamp to my feet says that I can see around me. My feet know where they will land with each step. A light to my path is showing us that the word shows us where to go. So, it shows us where we are, and it shows us where we need to go. It allows us to see it all, in a sense.
So, that’s what Psalms 119:105 means to me. What does it mean to you?
