Dante’s Best: November 2016

Another month down for Dante’s Optimism and views have gone up as well since October. That’s really nice. In fact, this is the highest views since April. I am hoping to continue the climb. Thanks for the views, homies.

In case you don’t know about this monthly post, it’s a monthly feature where I take the best posts from the month and share them with you. The best is determined by mostly my preference but also views and likes.

We’re looking at the featured posts. If I have any other types of posts, I will pick the best of those. So, it’s like this:

  • Best Dante’s Opinion for the month
  • Best Dante Positive for the month
  • Best Dante Funny for the month
  • Best non featured post for the month

Dante’s Opinion:

It came down to two posts, and they were right next to each other when they were published, but I picked my epic rant on why apples are not only better than oranges, but why they are the best fruit period. Here’s a taste:

Dante Positive: Women Making History

This piece of news is from Positive News. I wanted to give them a special shoutout as they follow me on Twitter and I do the same. They popped up with an article of a bunch of women who were first in their category of race and sexual orientation. The idea was, even though we don’t have our first female president, women still ended up in places never seen before.

When I look at my sisters, I hope and pray they can make a powerful difference where ever they are.

Make sure you read the entries. There are six ladies. Girl power or something.

Dante’s Best: October 2016

A monthly feature where I take the best posts from the month and share them with you. The best is determined by mostly my preference but also views and likes.

We’re looking at the featured posts. If I have any other types of posts, I will pick the best of those. So, it’s like this:

  • Best Dante’s Opinion for the month
  • Best Dante Positive for the month
  • Best Dante Funny for the month

Dante’s Opinion

The winner for the month of October goes to this:

Why do people ask questions like “what’s up” or “how is your day” when they really don’t care at all? It’s the same dialogue with the same answer. I don’t get why this is used. It literally has no meaning. When I’m asked “what’s up” or “how’s it going” all I do is repeat what they say or say “nice”. And it is very annoying. I know it’s considered good etiquette, but how? There is no reason for it. If you really want me to tell you how my day is, let me think about it, tell you, and give details. If you don’t care about my day, then I see no point in asking the question.

And, I basically ranted a response in agreement with this original question. A very close second was about when to have homemade chocolate cake. But yeah man, that stupid question people ask without expecting an answer to is too much for me.

Dante Positive

Remember that boy who grew his hair out just so he could donate it to cancer victims who lost their hair? I do. And that’s the best Dante Positive post in October.

Dante Funny

It’s really a shame but I didn’t post much humor in October by my standards. However, a winner must be chosen. The best Dante Funny had to have been the Bats, Rats, and Cats jokes post. Plus, have you seen the featured image for it?

Other

The best non featured post for October had to be my reflecting on whether I should be a minister or not. Trying to figure out if the call is real. Trying to figure out how to get to where I need to be. It’s really fascinating.

So, those were the best of October. Dante’s Best.

Dante Positive: The “Sit With Us” App

A teenager who was forced to sit alone at school for lunch has created an app to help students sit together. The link goes to an interview, and I’m just going to share this exchange:

So you get this idea for an app, and how did you want it to work?

The way that it works is it’s a free lunch-planning app where kids can find lunch tables if they feel like they have nowhere to go. Pretty much, kids can sign up as ambassadors for a Sit With Us club and agree to post open lunches so that anyone who has the app and has nowhere to go can find a table and, hopefully, make some new friends.

Seems like a good idea. It’s a good read.

Dante Positive: The Kindness Van

There are a couple of retired folks who are driving around in a van, giving out food and other things for free. They pay out of pocket, although they do get donations to keep on trucking…or vanning?

The link goes to a video. You will need to watch it.

One of the things the woman was talking about was how we are basically in a society where getting something with no strings attached is so unusual that there is “skepticism” in the whole thing. Isn’t that a shame? We don’t give enough. We don’t share enough. So, when someone does it, it’s very odd.

Is that where we want to live? It’s weird…uncomfotable…awkward…unbelievable…to show kindness. Sorry, that’s not the place for me. Let’s do something about it.
